We opened on Geary Boulevard with one purpose: bring the layered, aromatic flavors of India to San Francisco and make everyone feel at home. Over three decades later, same address, same care.
The Kitchen Behind Every Dish
Every curry is slow-cooked, every naan comes straight from our tandoor, every spice blend built by hand. From butter chicken that coats the back of a spoon to lamb vindaloo that lingers — no shortcuts.
A Table for Everyone
Our Jain-friendly menu — no onion, garlic, or ginger — and our gluten-free naan aren't footnotes; they're part of who we are. Vegetarian dishes get the same care and prime billing as everything else.
The Buffet as a Ritual
Our all-you-can-eat buffet — lunch (everyday 11 to 4pm) and dinner (Fri & Sat 4pm to 8pm) — is how many guests first fall in love with Star India, working through dal, biryani, and three kinds of curry before looping back for more naan.
